Sophomore forward Morgan Sarver from Slippery Rock University and Altoona Area High School graduate, recently received an honor from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women’s soccer all-conference team. She was named to the PSAC Western Division Second Team and started in all 18 of her appearances. Morgan finished third in the PSAC in shots and fourth in shots on target. She ended the year with six goals and nine assists for the Rock, earning her a tie for second place in team offensive points at 21. The Rock ended the season with a record of 12-4-3 overall.
Five members of Penn State Altoona’s women’s volleyball program also received postseason recognition from the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC). Head coach Jamie McGreal was named coach of the year, while freshman outside hitter Lia Simanski, a Bishop Guilfoyle High School graduate, was selected as newcomer of the year. Four student-athletes from Penn State Altoona were named to the all-conference list: junior libero Anna Batrus, an Altoona Area High School grad, was a first-team All-AMCC selection; senior outside hitter Lacee Barnhart and Simanski were both second-team picks; and junior middle Makenna Port earned third-team recognition. McGreal led the Lady Lions to their third ever conference championship.
Simanski ranked among the top 10 players in several categories during her time in AMCC including kills per set (2.77), kills (263), points (293.0), points per set (3.1) and digs (328). Batrus played as starting libero throughout the season while anchoring her team’s defense and being instrumental in leading AMCC this season in digs per set at 5.55 while being second in total digs at 533
