In the first half, the Bills offense relied on field goals. However, they have since managed to find the end zone in the third quarter. With 6:29 left in the third quarter, Josh Allen connected with Khalil Shakir for his third touchdown pass of the day, extending the Bills’ lead to 29-6 against the Jets. On this play, Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner attempted to intercept the ball but missed, allowing Shakir to break through for an 81-yard touchdown. This marked the longest play from scrimmage in the NFL season so far.
Prior to this long touchdown pass, Allen also scored a touchdown on the Bills’ first drive of the second half, connecting with running back Ty Johnson. In his first game with interim offensive coordinator Joe Brady calling the plays, Allen has completed 19-of-29 passes for 273 yards. The Bills seem poised to take control of this game as they continue to dominate on offense.
Following a punt by Jets on their first possession of the third quarter, it appears that they are struggling to find offensive prowess needed to make a comeback in this game.
