The CAA has announced its weekly women’s basketball awards for the second week of the 2023-24 season. This week, Chaniya Clark from North Carolina A&T was named Player of the Week, and Laine McGurk from Drexel was awarded Rookie of the Week.
Chaniya Clark, a redshirt sophomore at North Carolina A&T, played a crucial role in her team’s 2-0 record during this week, including a win over Wake Forest and another victory against Liberty. She averaged 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game and achieved a double-digit performance in all three games she played. Her outstanding performances have helped North Carolina A&T maintain their streak of three consecutive wins.
On the other hand, Laine McGurk, a freshman at Drexel, also delivered impressive results this week by averaging 15.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. She had double-digit scores in all three games she participated in, including an instrumental role in Drexel’s recent win over La Salle with 16 points and nine rebounds.
Last week’s Player of the Week was Khari Clark from Stony Brook, while Darrionna Howard from Delaware earned Rookie of the Week honors. These awards highlight the talent and depth within the CAA women’s basketball division.
