The Czech Republic’s victory against Moldova in the final evening of the qualification secured their direct qualification for the European Championship. They finished in second place with the same number of points as Albania, but due to the enormous pressure, Czech coach Jaroslav Šilhavy resigned after the match. He stated that before the game, he and his staff had made the decision not to continue working with the national team and informed the president of the association, Petar Fouska, about their decision. Šilhavy led the national team in 58 games, winning 28, drawing 10, and losing 20 under his leadership. In their last European Championship appearance, they reached the quarterfinals but were defeated by Denmark with a score of 2-1.
