Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay expressed gratitude to linebacker Shaquille Leonard for his contributions to the team, as the team announced that they had waived him. Leonard took to social media to express his appreciation for the city of Indianapolis and its fans.
Leonard had a successful six-year career with the Colts, achieving several milestones during his time on the team. He was a second-round pick in 2018 and won defensive rookie of the year, as well as being named a first-team All-Pro. However, back injuries and decreased playing time led to his release from the team.
Despite leaving the Colts behind, Leonard remains grateful for their support and expressed love for the city of Indianapolis. He will now be free to explore new opportunities as an unrestricted free agent, searching for a new team where he can continue to excel and sign a new contract.
