Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that the demo for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be available on PS5 starting in 2024. The demo will offer players the chance to experience the opening chapter of one of the most anticipated games of the year. It will be divided into two parts, with the second section scheduled for February 21st, allowing a preview of the expansive game world before its official launch on February 29th, exclusively on PlayStation.
During a Sony State of Play dedicated to the game, not only was the demo announced but also the final trailer was presented. The trailer provided an overview of the plot and characters, including their mission to chase Sephiroth and save the planet. It also showed off new locations, minigames and familiar characters. A new battle system was introduced that combines real-time action with strategic controls.
The “Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim” demo includes a flashback section that allows players to revisit one of the most important story missions in Final Fantasy VII Remake’s history – set five years before the main events – which is crucial for understanding Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s plot. On February 21st, an update will be released that includes a new section titled “Dawn of a New Era in Junon”, offering more exploration and combat possibilities. It’s important to note that any progress made in this section won’t be transferable to the full game, but those who complete it will receive bonuses such as a moogle lucky charm and adventure items that can be used throughout Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
The presentation during State of Play gave viewers an extensive look at what makes this game unique, from traversing its expansive world to interacting with its complex characters – all while expanding upon Final Fantasy VII Remake’s narrative continuum. New information about character interactions and mechanics such as skill trees were also revealed during this presentation. For those who want more out of this universe, they can check out Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis – available now as a mobile role-playing game that provides new narrative elements while allowing players to explore key events from Final Fantasy VII timeline further.
