A fire broke out at Mike Pusateri Excavating on St. Clair Avenue in the 16000 block. The fire started around 4 p.m., and while no injuries have been reported, two firefighters suffered minor burns to their faces and necks and were taken to the hospital. The cause of the fire is still unknown, and it remains under investigation.
The road between McGuffey Drive and McCoy Avenue remains blocked off while crews continue their work, and Lt. Randy Schneider of the Calcutta Fire Department said that six fire departments were on the scene to put out the remaining fire. The estimated losses for the business owner are around $750,000. Additionally, there were explosions from propane and oxygen tanks during the firefighting efforts.
