A fire broke out at the Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe, the site of Nikola Tesla’s final laboratory in Shoreham, on Tuesday night. Suffolk police confirmed that the fire was reported at 4:49 p.m. at the corner of Tesla and Robinson streets. Dozens of firefighters from multiple departments were immediately called to the scene to put out the blaze.
Flames were seen leaping out of the northeast portion of the main building just below the famous peak of the building an hour after the fire was first reported. Firefighters are still working to extinguish the blaze, and it is unclear what caused it. Check back for updates on this developing story.
