In a press conference held at the Parliament on Monday, representatives from the Fokus party accused the HDZ of buying votes with taxpayers’ money in an effort to prevent losing the upcoming elections. Despite an increase in revenues from European funds in the budget, Davor Nađi, the leader of Fokus, pointed out that these revenues are offset by a one billion euro reduction in expenses for Croatian Roads and other projects.
Nađi highlighted that there has been a 70 percent increase in employee expenses and a 50 percent increase in citizen and household transfers in just two years. He criticized the budget as a means for the HDZ to improve its rating without addressing any actual problems. Meanwhile, Dario Zurovec expressed his frustration over the disproportionate expenses of Croatian Roads and the lack of sports facilities in Croatia despite significant spending on projects like the Slavonija Project.
When asked about Ustashi shouts at a commemoration in Vukovar, Damir Bajs expressed his expectation for the police to treat rioters with the same force as they did with recent unruly fans.
