The Jacksonville Florida Times-Union reports that the city has experienced a surge in small business openings, adding to an already lively local business scene. From a vintage boutique in Springfield to new bookstores in the urban core, 2023 has been a year of growth for small businesses. Major retailers are also setting up shop at Gateway Town Center, and Jacksonville’s Regency Square Mall is changing hands.
As the holiday shopping season approaches, businesses are preparing for Small Business Saturday. Some new shops worth checking out include two independent bookstores in Jacksonville, Happy Medium Books Cafe and Literary Lounge. Femme Fire Books, which has been open for a year, is also celebrating its milestone of having a physical location.
In addition to bookstores, there are several other new shops that have recently opened around the city. Purple Mangrove is a pre-owned and vintage clothing store that also serves drinks and plants. Sunhoney, a modern, bohemian boutique, has just opened its doors at Jacksonville Beach. Planet Circle, which offers plants, home decor items, and unique gifts, recently opened in Riverside. Greenhouse is a bar-coffeehouse-shop hybrid that celebrated its first anniversary in Brooklyn this year.
The small business scene in Jacksonville continues to grow with an influx of new shops and boutiques opening across the city. From clothing stores to home decor shops to bookstores
