The Jets have made a significant change to their quarterback lineup. With the team trailing 29-6 late in the third quarter of Sunday’s game in Buffalo, Zach Wilson was pulled from the field in favor of Tim Boyle. Wilson had been struggling on the field, completing just 7 of his 15 passes for 81 yards, one touchdown, and an interception while also being sacked five times.
This marks Boyle’s first appearance with the Jets. He has previously played for the Packers, Lions, and Bears and even started three games for the Lions last year. Despite head coach Robert Saleh’s unwavering support of Wilson since Aaron Rodgers went down with a torn Achilles in early September, it appears that a change may be necessary as the team struggles to keep up with their opponents.
The Jets are currently holding out hope that they can stay in playoff contention long enough for Rodgers to return to action. However, it remains to be seen whether this change will be enough to turn things around for the struggling team.
