The Ohio State women’s basketball team secured a convincing victory in the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship with a win over East Carolina 79-55. Jacy Sheldon led the way for the Buckeyes, scoring 20 points, while Taylor Thierry contributed 14 points and eight rebounds.
Ohio State got off to a strong start, taking a 21-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, East Carolina’s Synia Johnson scored eight of her 14 points in the second quarter, pulling ECU within three points of Ohio State at halftime.
Despite Johnson’s efforts, Ohio State dominated the second half, taking a commanding 49-34 lead after scoring 11 of the first 13 points. Rebeka Mikulasikova chipped in with 12 points, while Cotie McMahon and Rikki Harris each had 11 for Ohio State.
ECU’s Johnson and Amiya Joyner scored 14 and 12 points respectively but it was not enough to keep up with Ohio State. The game also saw several technical fouls including an ejection for ECU’s Jade Tillman after a hard foul in the third quarter.
Overall, Ohio State’s strong performance secured their victory in the tournament with ease.
