As the Wisconsin deer hunting opener begins, many hunters are preparing for the start of their season. However, this year’s overlap with the wrap-up of Minnesota’s rifle hunting season for deer presents some challenges for both Minnesota and Wisconsin hunters. Several hunting supplies stores have been offering helpful tips for making the most out of their hunting season.
Scott Miller, an employee from Northwest Outlet, recommends wearing layers and having wool socks on a hunting trip. “We’ve got this one weekend of overlap where there’s guys still hunting in Minnesota and everybody’s getting out and starting in Wisconsin,” he said. “Wisconsin hunters are hit it a little bit harder because they only have one week to get their gear.”
Pat Kukull, co-owner of Superior Shooters Supply advised young hunters to have patience during the Wisconsin Deer Hunting season. “It’s not like years before, because you can buy your license at home online,” he said. “And that makes a big difference.”
The lack of snow has made it harder to track deer while hunting, but Kukull believes that his customers are well prepared for this year’s season. “I like to think that our customers are really prepared,” he said. “They’re sighting their gun in early.”
