LEWISTOWN, Pa. – If you’re looking to add a touch of style to your race day outfit, fashion experts suggest keeping your head held high with a chic finishing touch. Colette Hartzler, executive director of the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata, agrees but adds that the fancier the better.
Hartzler hopes to see plenty of fancy headwear at the upcoming Night at the Races on Saturday, January 27th, 2024, at the Moose Family Center in Lewistown. The event is being held to raise money for the United Way and is sure to be a fun-filled evening featuring a Kentucky Derby hat contest, Just Ducky elimination game, live auction race and 50/50 raffle.
Hartzler and her assistant Kenda Haas attended last year’s Lewistown Country Club event and were impressed with the excitement and fun that video horse racing brought to the racetrack atmosphere. They decided that they would like to check it out for themselves and attended, finding it to be a lot of fun.
Tickets cost $40 per person or $75 per table and include a horse, food and one drink. A cash bar is also available. Hartzler hopes that guests will be hanging onto their seats cheering for their horse as Night at the Races turns into a successful fundraiser for the United Way.
A fancy hat contest is just one of many games that attendees can participate in during Night at the Races. Don’t forget to bring your best hat! For more information on tickets or how you can get involved with Night at
