The recently held UEFA Nations League draw has resulted in several challenging groups for the competition’s participating countries. This event takes place after the summer’s European Championship and features top-ten FIFA world ranking teams.
One such group is composed of France, Italy, Belgium, and Israel. These teams are all ranked among the top-ten FIFA world ranking nations and have also qualified for the European Championship in Germany this summer. Israel will be participating in the playoffs next month.
In addition to this group, Spain was drawn in a group with Denmark, Switzerland, and Serbia. Euro 2024 host Germany is in a top-tier group with Netherlands, Hungary, and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Croatia was top-seeded in a group with Portugal, Poland, and Scotland.
Meanwhile, England was ranked No. 3 by FIFA but was relegated from the top-tier Nations League group in 2022. They will now face Finland, Greece, and Ireland in their first competitive match since 1991. This will be an exciting opportunity for both teams to prove their skills on the field.
The group-stage games in all four tiers will be played from September to November. In top-tier League A, the top two teams in each group advance to the quarterfinals in March 2025. The semifinals and final are a mini-tournament hosted by one of the competing countries. The Final Four is scheduled June 4-8, 2025 before many players return to their clubs for the inaugural 32-team Club World Cup in the United States starting June 15th
